ANGELES CITY – Angeles City has no active COVID-19 cases anymore, after the city’s final positive patient has been cleared and released from isolation, the City Epidemiological Surveillance Office said on Tuesday morning, June 9.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said the last patient is a 34-year-old-man from Barangay Sto. Cristo, who was admitted last June 2. He was tested negative for COVID-19 thru the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test and met the criteria to be released.
Lazatin added this milestone will not be possible if not for the dedication, sacrifices, and hard work of all the city’s health workers, frontliners, and backliners.
“Nung e kayu memagsakripisyu, eku mu naman agyu ing dintang a kapagsubukan laban keng COVID-19,” Lazatin said.
[If not for your sacrifices, I will not be able to handle the fight against COVID-19 alone.]
He also cited his constituents’ cooperation and unity amid the implementation of the community quarantine in the city. However, he reiterated that the fight against COVID-19 is still not yet over.
“Pasalamatan ku la reng kabalen tamung Angeleños na ali kayu sinawang sinaup banta asiguraduan ing ligtas ing keka tamung siyudad.,” he added.

“Pero pakiusap po, sumunod pa rin tayo sa mga ipinapatupad na regulasyon ng pamahalaan. Hindi pa po tapos ang laban natin sa COVID-19,” he said.

Angeles City, with a population of more than 170,000 households, had 25 confirmed cases for COVID-19, with 23 recoveries, and 2 deaths.
There have been no new infections for one week.
