Music aficionados gathered at the Enclave in Angeles City last November 8, 2008 as Richard Poon—one the country’s singing heartthrobs—held a dinner-concert at the estate’s premiere commercial strip.
Good friend Glennie Cunanan , Enclave Villas Operations Manager invited my group to watch, dine and enjoy the music of the country’s “big band crooner”. The concert started with Quinta Band as front act. Richard Poon opened his set with his own arrangement of “New York, New York”. He performed most of the songs in his album but what broke the house down was his medley version of the pop songs Umbrella, Low and Irreplaceable. He also had his own rendition of some OPM hits like “Kahit Maputi na Ang Buhok Ko” and a medley of jukebox hits like “Sayang”, “Isang Linggong Pagibig” and Tukso”.
Richard Poon’s unique charm onstage and his witty adlibs made him win the recent Aliw Awards in the Best Male Performer in Hotels, Music Lounges and Bars category.
