ANGELES CITY – An American national allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday, jumping off from the nearly completed Grand View Tower Hotel in Barangay Malabanias, here.

In a spot report obtained on Thursday, SPO2 Jose Capinpin III identified the victim as Tom Miller. No other details about the victim had been released by the police and the name of the victim was based on the log book of Grand View Tower security guards.

“The American jumped off and someone saw him. I think it was from the eight floor of the building,” said City Police Director, Senior Supt. Rodolfo Recomono who was interviewed at the opening of the hot air balloon festival at Clark.

Investigators said Miller arrived at about 3:16 p.m. at the coffee shop of Grand View Hotel and stayed for a few minutes.

A hotel supervisor identified as Tita P. Reynolds of this city served the coffee of Miller. She told police that Miller looked “very uneasy and moving around inside.”

Reynolds said Miller had left the lobby after drinking his coffee. She later learned that about 3:25 p.m. Miller had been found dead at the back of the hotel.

Mark D. Vicente, stay-in plumber at the nearby Tune Hotel, said he had seen Miller jump off from the back roof of the hotel along Tamarind St.

Police investigators said that they found “no foul play” on Miller’s death.
