CLARK FREEPORT — Forging its way forward as the longest and biggest running event in Pampanga, the second TCS Clark Animo International Marathon is all set for this year’s edition set at Clark Global City here on March 8.
Now on its 11th year as an annual running event organized by the De La Salle Alumni Association – Pampanga chapter (DLSAA-P), it is also on its second year in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services — one of the most important BPO IT service brands worldwide, as an internationally qualified marathon event course certified by the International Association of Athletics Federation and Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
“We are the longest and biggest race event in Pampanga. We have been doing this for the past 10 years,” said Darwin Cunanan, DLSAA-P president. “This is volunteer work from us. For two years we are already internationally accredited.”
“In terms of traffic and safety, we have medical teams headed by able doctors and medical personnel. One half of the road along M.A. Roxas will be closed to traffic for the race,” Cunanan pointed out.
The TCS Clark Animo Marathon features internationally certified marathon race routes with 42K full marathon, 21K half marathon, 10K, 5K, and 2.5K race courses.
The gun start will blast off at 2 a.m. for the full marathon, 4:30 a.m. for the half marathon, 5:30 a.m. for the 10K distance with 15-minute intervals for the 5K and 2.5K run category.
What started as a fun run organized by DLSAA-P from a mere 600 runners, Clark Animo grew into one of the most sought-after running events in the Philippines with 10,000 participating runners in 2019.
The event also serves as a fundraising activity supporting various environmental community projects as well as different beneficiaries for education.
