ORANI, Bataan- ThIs town known for its fishponds held Friday its “Alimango and Sugpo Festival” with street dancing as part of the celebration of its 117th founding day.

Mayor Benjamin Serrano, Jr. opened the festival attended by a big crowd at the town plaza fronting the Virgen Sto. Rosario Church. The town for the past years held the festival in thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest of crabs and prawns that contributes largely to its coffers and income of many residents.

Morning and afternoon daily, the Orani fishport teems with traders from many parts of Bataan and Central Luzon haggling for the two biggest marine products. The street dancers wore alimango- and sugpo-inspired costumes and presented crude means of catching crabs and fish like the use of “salakab” and small fishing nets.

They also showed “kalya” for placing prawns and shrimps and “buslo” for the crabs.
