HAGONOY, Bulacan—Relief goods began to pour in flood ravaged towns of Bulacan since the weekend, but it is still not enough.
Distribution of relief goods continued on Monday along with medical missions which drew hundreds of Bulakenyos. This time, not only local government units are distributing relief goods and conducting medical missions.
Even the Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserved Command (AFP Rescom) led by Brig. Gen. Quirino Calonzo joined the bandwagon to help Bulakenyos.
Speaking to hundreds of residents at Barangay Tampok here, Calonzo said the AFP Rescom has been helping Filipinos in different parts of the country, especially during and after a calamity.
He said he chose this coastal town which has been ravaged by floods the last three years because he was born and raised here.
“It’s good to be back but I can just come back in my hometown without helping may kababayans knowing they suffered from floods,” he said.
Calonzo is joined by personnel from the AFP Rescom and volunteers from the Association of Medical Doctors in Asia (AMDA.
Members of the Voice of the New Generation Rescue 184 also provided manpower assistance while San Miguel Foundation helped in providing relief goods.
In other towns of Bulacan, Gov. Wilhelmino Alvarado led distribution of relief goods starting Saturday. They have distributed relief goods in Balagtas, Obando, Hagonoy and the cities of Meycauayan and Malolos.
