MARIVELES, Bataan — The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and the Freedom of Information Awards Screening Committee have chosen the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan as FOI champion first runner– up.
AFAB information officer Hazel Keith Ellorin on Wednesday said that PCOO chief Martin Andanar and FOI Program director Asst. Sec. Kristian Ablan handed the award the other day to AFAB and other winners.
AFAB administrator Emmanuel Pineda and Ma. Lourdes Herrera, AFAB deputy administrator for supports Services, received the award under the government-owned and –controlled corporation category.
Ellorin said this was the third time that AFAB has been accorded the citation.
“We all know the importance of information. Now more than ever, our efforts to provide what the public needs and wants to know is integral to our continuing commitment to overcome all our challenges together,” Pineda said.
“We do this so that we can better empower our countrymen to uplift their lives as active participants in the development and progress of our country,” the administrator added.
AFAB has administrative control over the Freeport Area of Bataan in Mariveles, former Bataan Export Processing Zone and Bataan Economic Zone, where more than 100 locators are operating.
Ellorin said that the PCOO annually gives the FOI awards to recognize the efforts of agencies of government, including GOCCs, state universities and colleges and water districts, that have activities related to the enhancement of the FOI program of government.
