CLARK FREEPORT – A group of Aetas clashed yesterday morning with security authorities of the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) amid conflict on a hollow block making facility the tribal folk built at the Sacobia River here.

Aeta leader Robert Serrano said some of his companions were hurt during the incident and that they filed with the police a formal complaint against the CDC personnel.

Serrano said the CDC security men arrived yesterday morning and ordered then to vacate an area they are using for hollow blocks-making at the Sacobia bridge. The men, he noted, were able to demolish structures in the area.

“They (the CDC) have failed to give us livelihood, so we established this hollow block venture on our own,” he said.

But the CDC said that the facility was located right on the riverbed of the Sacobia River and thus was not only illegal, but also dangerous for the Aetas themselves.

After demolishing the structures, CDC personnel left with a warning to the Aetas not to rebuild them.

Serrano, however, said he and his companions would stay put and would be ready to fight once the CDC team would come back to move them out.
