Active Covid–19 cases in Bataan surge to 1,937

BALANGA CITY — From 1,650 active cases of the coronavirus disease in Bataan registered on Wednesday, the number surged to 1,937 the following day, Thursday.

Gov. Albert Garcia announced Friday that active cases rose in all the 11 towns and one city in the province.

Balanga City got the most at 468, followed by Mariveles – 292, Limay – 262, Dinalupihan – 247, Orani – 165, Samal – 154, Abucay – 79, Hermosa – 67, Pilar – 65, Orion – 64, Morong – 41, and Bagac – 33.

The number of those who tested positive of Covid–19 climbed to 31,536 after 310 new confirmed cases were recorded with Balanga City (56), Orani (36), Mariveles (27), Dinalupihan (25), Samal (16), Orion (14), Bagac (10), Abucay (7), Morong (6), Pilar (5), LImay (3), and Hermosa (1).

Those who have recovered reached 28,372 with 22 new recoveries in Balanga City, 5; Orani, 5; Limay, 2; Abucay, 1; Orion, 1 and Pilar, 1.

Total deaths were recorded at 1,227 after the addition of one new casualty.

Meanwhile, 1,135,465 vaccine doses have so far been administered in the province, including 58,659 booster shots given to the eligible general population.

Garcia said 507,873 individuals or 59 percent of the 862,233 population of the province are fully vaccinated.

“Simula ngayon, ang target population natin ay ang kabuuang populasyon ng Bataan na 862,233 na kinabibilangan ng mga nasa limang taon pataas bagama’t sa kasalukuyan ang maaari lamang mabakunahan ay ang mga 12 taong gulang pataas,” the governor said.

Of the 568,933 individuals who received the first dose, 104,464 are waiting for the second jab.
