Acetylene gang members fall

    BALANGA City – Police on Monday reported the arrest of three suspected members of the “acetylene gang” and confiscated various tools utilized in the trade of robbing their victims.

    Lawyer Benjamin Silo, Jr., Balanga City chief of police, said  the suspects are construction workers identified as Gilford Tanglod, 19, of Sacada,  Mt. Province,; Ricky Mariano, 21, of Baguio City and Nelson Patiti, 24, of Sagada, Mt. Province. They were charged of theft and detained at the Bataan Provincial Jail.

    Recovered from the suspects in backpacks were two acetylene tanks, one set acetylene gauge, one set of acetylene hose torch, two drills, one small cutter, one big bolt cutter, one crow bar, one small LPG tank and a yard of dark linen.

    Insp. Ronnie Fabia led a team of police personnel in the raid of a nipa hut in Barangay Bagong Silang Bliss, Balanga City, of Salvador Aswige, 40, a native of Sagada, Mt. Province where the suspects temporarily resided.

    The trio were first apprehended after snatching the pouch bag of Jamaica Hessil Talam of Tenejero, Balanga City who was about to buy medicine at a drug store 2 a.m. on Saturday.
    Upon receipt of the complaint, patrol personnel headed by Insp. Dennis Orbista conducted hot pursuit operation and collared the suspects along the Bataan superhighway at the corner of Barangay Bagong Silang Bliss.

    Confiscated from the three were the stolen pouch bag containing P500 cash, two Samsung cellphones worth P8,000 and Nokia 1100 valued at P1,000.

    Tactical interrogation allegedly revealed that the suspects roamed the city proper to scout for pawnshops they could break into but were discouraged by the roaming mobile patrol of the city and instead decided to do the snatching.

    The trio also admitted that they were involved in the failed break-in of a pawnshop in Orani, Bataan, police said.
