ANGELES CITY – The city government here under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. will start vaccinating Angeleño kids aged 5 to 11, beginning February 21, 2022.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his confidence in the vaccination drive of children with the city’s logistics, manpower, and resources prepared at the City College of Angeles mega vaccination site.
The vaccination will be done via schedule per barangay, Lazatin furthered.
Reina Manuel, Executive Assistant IV, also the head of the vaccination committee on ways and means, said that part of the preparation for the kids’ vaccination is the site having a circus design — with a colorful motif for them to have friendly and pleasant experience.
Manuel shared that upon vaccination, each kid will also receive a loot bag. Inside the loot bag are vitamins, paracetamol, candies, coloring pens, and coloring pads.
“It’s like giving them treats and reward after being vaccinated. The preparation we did is also to encourage them that vaccines are safe,” Manuel said.
Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, also the chief implementer of the city’s vaccination program, said the City Health Office, led by Dr. Verona Guevarra, already coordinated with volunteer-pediatricians who are set to be deployed at the vaccination site once the children’s inoculation starts.
Guevarra also explained that the city government will abide by the guidelines set by the Department of Health, citing Pfizer as allotted vaccines for the kids.
The supply of the vaccines, she said, will be coming from the National Vaccination Operation Center.
“Sa mga magulang po, pabakuna po natin ang ating mga anak. Napakalaking tulong po ng bakuna bilang proteksyon laban sa virus, lalo na po ngayong panahon ng pandemya,” Guevarra said.
