ANGELES CITY — In pursuit of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.’s goal to assist local artists, the city government will shoulder the publication of a coffee table book showcasing the Art Movement in Angeles City and the province of Pampanga for the past 40 years.

This, according to a letter sent by Mayor Lazatin to Norman Tiotuico, an Angeleño painter and a Kapampangan language and indigenous script (kulitan) advocate, whose love for his language is matched by his love for his art.

During the exchange of views between Mayor Lazatin and Tiotuico also attended by his Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Angeles City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, Lazatin vowed to help the local artists who are recovering from the effects of the pandemic.

Apart from this, a mural will be installed at the Santungan Cultural Hub Project under the Abacan Bridge to uplift the cultural scene in the city and to develop cultural awareness among Angeleños through art.

Mayor Lazatin also asked malls to provide a venue to feature the work of various local artists on a monthly basis.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel with Antonio-Sugui already met with the mall managers to discuss the initiative.
