ANGELES CITY – League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) President and Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan together with Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde led the turnover of nine (9) new mobile patrol vehicles to Angeles City Police Office (ACPO).

During Tuesday’s ceremony at the City Hall, Mayor Pamintuan said that the vehicles will help enhance the surveillance capabilities of the ACPO towards maintaining and eventually exceed the current stable peace and order situation in this highly-urbanized city.

“We have been declared as among five Philippine cities with the lowest crime rate but we do not stop there. The “safe city” tag to us entails a challenge and that, we should intensify and sustain our programs, and extend our support to the local police,” Mayor Pamintuan said.

Eight (8) brand new Toyota Hilux Pickup Patrol Vehicles and one (1) Toyota Innova AUV are set to be distributed to all police stations in the city and for the main PNP headquarters here.

PNP Chief Albayalde expressed his appreciation to the city government attributing the donation of patrol vehicles as “strong symbol of common commitment to ensure peace and order in the community”.

“The donations will boost the logistical capabilities of ACPO and improve the mobility of our personnel to immediately respond to calls for help and public service, and to ensure a strengthened mobile patrol in the city,” said General Albayalde.

“These will surely advance the modernization of our mobility equipment to further strengthen our duty in maintaining peace and order in the community, and the continuous fight against crime and illegal drugs,” the PNP chief added.

Also gracing the ceremony is former senator and Finance Secretary now Development Bank of the Philippines Chairman Alberto Romulo, who has been very vocal on the city’s economic viability and his support to the programs and projects of the local government especially on infrastructure development.

“I hope that the Philippines will have the same administration and leadership as Mayor Pamintuan has exhibited here in Angeles City,” Romulo said.

In affirmation, Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno assured that the city will not stop on its crusade in making the Angeles the safest city in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Mayor Pamintuan led a walkthrough with PNP Chief Albayalde and other police and city government officials inside the Angeles City Agyu Tamu Emergency and Disaster Command Center, which has been the flagship project of the city to ensure peace and security.

Pamintuan also disclosed that the local government will be turning over thirty (30) motorcycles to the local police before he caps his term as city mayor.

Joining Pamintuan and Albayalde in the ceremony are PNP Regional Director Amador Corpuz, ACPO City Director Enrico Vargas, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, LGU and barangay officials, and representatives from the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Angeles City.
