ANGELES CITY — The newly-opened state-of-the-art computer laboratories in the public schools here have been described as “world-class”.

Information Communication and Technology Teacher and Coordinator from Angeles City National Trade School Enrile Lerit, who has been in the service for many years, said this is a first for him to be provided and equipped with technology materials in a public school, similar to schools situated abroad — and even way even better.

This project has been made possible under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.

“Bilang isang teacher sa mahabang panahon na nakapagtrabaho na rin abroad, ang bagong bukas na computer laboratory dito sa school namin sa ACNTS is as in talagang pang world class,” Lerit shared.

“At ito pong mga computer laboratory na pinrovide ng ating city government, naging posible dahil po sa initiative ni Mayor Pogi,” Lerit added.

Lerit, who worked as a teacher in Oman and the United Arab Emirates, compared the new computer laboratories to a 21st century computer laboratory.

“Actually para sa’kin na nag-work sa Oman and UAE as a teacher, mas maganda pa itong computer laboratory na pinrovide ng city government,” Lerit said.

Jefferson Karagdag, principal of Northville 15 Integrated School, also a school-beneficiary of the computer lab, said this is a positive development to harness the 21st century skills of the students, in preparation for the digital era.

“Maganda po itong mga computer lab, kasi po ngayong panahon po dapat may 21st century skills ang aming mga estudyante. So, malaking bagay po yung ICT laboratories na binigay ni mayor kumbaga nagiging prepare po ang aming mag-aaral sa mundo na kanilang tinatahak,” Karagdag shared.

A computer science secondary teacher from Angeles City National High School, Vernie Sapnu, said the administration of Mayor Lazatin is indeed a partner in attaining one of the Matatag curriculum’s goal in allowing students to develop 21st century skills, especially the computer literacy skills.

“The goal would be made easy na i-achieve para sa aming mga teachers at the same time sa mga students. Mapapadali yung pag-aachieve ng goal na yun especially with the help of those newly built computer laboratories. Lahat din po ng students magkakaroon na ng opportunities para doon sa kanilang mga hands-on experience,” Sapnu shared.

Elmer Dayrit, ACNTS Principal, also a school-beneficiary, expressed his thanks to the administration of Mayor Lazatin for prioritizing the ICT laboratories project, which will be put into good use by the students and teachers.

The parents, Dayrit said, are also happy to know that the school has already a state-of-the-art facility when it comes to ICT.

To recall, Mayor Lazatin personally led the ribbon cutting of the four state-of-the-art laboratories in four public schools in the city last Aug. 6-7, 2024.

Funded by the city government, the new state-of-the-art computer laboratories are part of the ICT Modernization Program of Mayor Lazatin, one of his campaign promises, underscoring the importance of technology in providing quality education.
