ANGELES CITY—The city government here under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. will present the Aeta-harvested coffee beans from the city-run café Kapebaluan to the 15th Philippine Food Expo (PhilFoodEx) at the SMX Convention Center Manila on April 28-30, 2023.

Mayor Lazatin said introducing the locally produced coffee during the only All-Filipino Food & Beverage expo in the Philippines is expected to depict the teeming tourism and livelihood activity in Angeles City.

It will also allow the Aeta entrepreneurs in the city to establish an avenue to improve their production, optimizing business opportunities while introducing the country to the ‘Gawang Angeleño’ products.

“Our goal is to let our Aeta brethren widen their commercial reach and build a suitable market for the coffee beans that they produce,” he said.

Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel together with Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) will supervise the assignment and will conduct free coffee tasting of the Kapebaluan coffee beans to the participants of the upcoming food expo.

It could be remembered that ACEDIPO Officer-in-Charge Irish Bonus-Llego recently met with the local coffee farmers of Kapebaluan to discuss the harvest of coffee beans this year as it is Mayor Lazatin’s desire to support them in increasing their outputs and profit.

Apart from introducing Kapebaluan’s beans is the promotion of locally known products like Angel’s Food Delights and Teresa’s Mushroom,  which are the newest members of the city’s One Town One Product store.

Giada’s Food Corporation, which is a meat processing company based in Angeles City, will also be featured along with its sister company, Giada’s bakery.

The 15th Philippine Food Expo is organized by the Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization to promote the rich culinary treasure and traditions in the country in conjunction with the culminating activity of the Filipino Food Month.

About 300 food manufacturing micro, small, medium, enterprises (MSMEs) and allied industries will participate in a 3-day exhibition of simultaneous cooking demos, beverage preparations, and technical seminars for those who are interested to visit culinary treasure and traditions in the country in conjunction with the culminating activity of the Filipino Food Month.
