ANGELES CITY – Three initiatives of the city government in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic earned top recognition at the 8th Central Luzon Excellence Awards for Health.

Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. received the Best in Social Mobilization award for the city’s blended vaccination scheme comprising the Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay, the Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay, and the Suyod Bakuna, Bakunahan sa Tahanan.

Ronda Bakuna is the delivery of vaccination service right at the doorsteps of Angeleño families.

Sundo Bakuna literally fetches vaccinees from pre-determined areas in their respective barangay and takes them to the city’s two mega vaccination sites with free services being provided by six Philippine Rabbit buses and 10 jeepneys.

Suyod Bakuna is a house-to-house vaccination drive that targets all residents and non-residents, aged 18 and above, who have yet to be vaccinated.

All these vaccine mobilization strategies have also been commended by the World Health Organization.

Mayor Lazatin was accompanied by Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center chief of hospital Dr. Froilan Canlas, city health officer Dr. Verona Guevarra, and CHO nurse supervisor Evelinda Mariano at the awarding ceremony held on Dec. 13 at the Kingsborough Convention Center in the City of San Fernando.
