Councilor Jesus Sangil, who sponsored the resolution, said the location is just outside the Clark freeport’s southern concrete fence where volumes of water coming from the said freeport flow directly to the village’s small drainage canal endangering the main road as well as dozens of houses and businesses.
The main road also leads to Barangay Sapangbato and serves as an alternate route to Clark in going to and from this city.
Sangil said the drainage construction is just in time with the ongoing massive road and drainage construction inside Clark freeport in preparation for the ASEAN meeting in November where various heads of state including Donald Trump of the USA, Vladimir Putin of Russia and Xi Jinping of China will be attending.
“I am requesting CDC president and CEO Noel Manankil to include our neighboring Barangay Margot in the road development and to avoid flood destruction in the area,” he said.
The resolution was approved unanimously by both the minority and majority councilors presided by Vice Mayor Bryan Nepomuceno.
