ANGELES CITY – “It’s about time we think of a plan to help also the middle-class members of the society.”

Thus, said councilor Amos Rivera who sponsored a resolution requesting the Local Finance Committee (LFC) to conduct a financial feasibility study in order to provide assistance to the middle-class sector of the society in this city.

“In doing so, both the lower and middle class sectors, will be given financial relief support during the enhanced community quarantine,” said Rivera who posted the resolution on Facebook with the hashtag DapatAll (#DapatAll).

Rivera’s post on April 17 has since gone viral with 729 likes, 202 comments mostly expressing their gratitude to him for not forgetting the middle class and 205 shares.

Rivera co-sponsored the resolution with councilors Alfie Bonifacio, Joan Crystal DJ. Aguas, Raco Paulo S. Del Rosario, and Danilo Lacson. Resolution No. 8975, S-2020 (PR-550-44-20), was unanimously approved during the special session on April 8.

Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting attached her signature as approving authority, attested by Atty. Mark Philip B. Lumboy, city council secretary.

Rivera said on Monday the LFC will give an update of the feasibility study.

He said his resolution was unanimously approved because the Department of Budget and Managementcame up with new guidelines in relation to the Covid-19 crisis where 20 percent of the development funds can be used accordingly to help the people cope in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rivera said, “there is about P200 million that we can use” in the development fund.
