MABALACAT CITY – Third-termer Councilor Amos B. Rivera, on Sunday, officially announced his plan to run for city mayor in the coming 2022 elections via Facebook post.
Coinciding with Father’s Day and his birthday, Rivera confirmed his plan to lead the city four months prior to the official filing of candidacy.
Rivera also made a separate announcement over the weekend with his wife, representatives from different sectors, and invited guests.
Also known as “A Man Of Service”, Rivera shared his plans as priorities for Angeles City including access to health care, economic recovery, education, emergency and disaster response, and multi-sectoral programs through inclusive governance.
Some of Rivera’s accomplishments in the past nine years as a city councilor include turning over of land titles to 20,000 urban poor families, providing free skills training development and livelihood programs to parents with special children, and supporting 5,000 solo parents through various programs such as education, financial, housing, skills development, and discounts on basic commodities and services.
Rivera has also authored and passed more than 30 major ordinances all throughout his term including the Solo Parents Act in which he has been invited to different cities and municipalities across the country as they have also adopted the same program from his own initiative.
At present, Rivera has been constantly giving free face masks through his A Mask Of Safety project and free seedlings for urban gardening.
As of this writing, Rivera’s post has reached 404 reactions, 152 comments, and 102 shares, some of which showing support for his plan to lead Angeles City.
