PACC Chairman and NTF-ELCAC Member Greco Belgica condemned the killing of Absalon cousins in Masbate saying that it’s an act of terror and not an error in the rebels military action.

CITY OF MANILA —- It’s not an “error” in the military action it’s an act of terror!

This is the statement of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Chairman Greco Belgica as the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army, have taken full responsibility for the anti-personnel landmine blast, saying the incident was a result of “errors” in the military action mounted by an NPA unit in Barangay Anas, Masbate City last Sunday.

Belgica, who is also a member of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) was disheartened by the killing of the Absalon cousins.

He said that they demand accountability for the untimely death of Absalon of the Far Eastern University and his cousin, Nolven Absalon as the CPP and the NPA taking full responsibility of the incident.

He said that the killing of football player Keith Absalon and his cousin Nolven at the hands of communist rebels is an act of terrorism as the use of landmines has been already declined worldwide.

“The victims are innocent people who are just having a bike trail, this young people are unarmed and this terrorist group cannot just go on public owning up to a crime without putting them into justice!” Belgica said.

That is why we demand greater accountability by challenging the CPP and NPA to give in those who are responsible in detonating an anti-personnel mine, while Absalon cousins and the group of bikers, were passing along the area.

“This rebel group has no respect with our youth, first they infiltrate universities and divert students into armed struggle, and now they are killing innocent young people… this must put into an end.” He said.

“This act of CPP and NPA is no longer a rebellion, it’s an act of terrorism and we can not accept apologies, they must surrender their personnel who planted the explosives that victimized innocent people!” Belgica ended.
