MARIVELES, Bataan — Aboitiz Power (AP) subsidiaries GNPower Mariveles (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD) funded for P2.4 million the series of health programs for Sitio Dinginin in Barangay Alas-Asin here for 2025.

The undertaking known as MediKalinga is a pilot project of the subsidiaries aimed at continuously improving the health and well-being of its host communities. It aligns with the company’s “P.R.O.G.R.E.S.S.” corporate social responsibility framework that prioritizes “Safeguarding Quality Health Access.”

Aside from medical and dental services, MediKalinga also handed out vitamins and essential supplements to all patients.

MediKalinga is on its third year, with three successful implementations in January, July, and December of 2024. Organizers said the consistent effort shows AP’s commitment to transforming energy for a better world and empowering communities by enhancing their quality of life.

MediKalinga started early in 2025 with a medical mission held at Sitio Dinginin on Jan. 28. Nearly 100 residents, both young and old, received free medical and dental consultations at the Dinginin Health Center.

Dr. Sherwin Pontanilla, rural health physician of Mariveles, cited the importance of the project, the sitio being far from the town proper.

“Even though we have a barangay health station here, it takes around eight to 10 kilometers to reach the town proper. Transportation options are limited, often requiring residents to walk. These medical missions make a real difference in their lives,” the doctor said.

The villagers were grateful to AP subsidiaries GMEC and GNPD for its concern to the health of residents.

“Simula po noon hanggang ngayon, tuloy tuloy ang ating ‘MediKalinga’,” said reputation and stakeholder management manager Joseph ‘Jeps’ Paolo Mendoza. “Sa tulong po ng mga doktor na kasama natin, mare-resetahan at mabibigyan kayo ng angkop na gamot,” he added.
