ABEKA Party List has vowed to sponsor laws that will increase the number of congressional districts in the Provinces of Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Bulacan and Zambales.

“We can have 2 congressional districts for Angeles City, and lone congressional districts for San Fernando City, Mabalacat City, Tarlac City, Baanga City, Malolos City, Cabanatuan City and Olongapo City, plus the complete redistricting of these provinces to increase representation in Congress,” said Jericho Aguas, ABEKA second nominee and incumbent councilor of Angeles City.

“It is high time to raise the number of congressional districts of these provinces of Central Luzon. ABEKA Party List will exert all efforts to amend the charters of these cities and to redistrict the provinces,” Aguas added.

The 1987 Philippine Constitution mandates a population of 250,000 for every congressional district. The population of all the provinces of Central Luzon has already increased significantly since 1987 but the number of representatives in Congress is still the same.

Aguas, who is in his 3rd term as city councilor, is also an officer of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL). His wife, JC Parker Aguas, is running for Angeles City Councilor.
