On October 15, 2024, the Province of Bulacan embarked on a transformative journey in public service by unveiling the Electronic Local Government Unit (eLGU) System at Catalino’s Hall, 8 Waves Hotel and Resort in San Rafael. This landmark event was a crucial initiative led by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), with Secretary Ivan Uy and eGovernment Undersecretary David Almirol at the forefront.

The launch witnessed significant participation from local officials, reflecting the collaborative spirit driving the eLGU initiative. Among the attendees were Bulacan Governor Hon. Daniel R. Fernando, Vice Governor Alex Castro, 5th District Representative Congressman Ambrosio ‘Boy’ Cruz Jr., and Guiginto Mayor Agatha Paula A. Cruz. The presence of directors from various DICT partner agencies, including Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and Department of Interiore and Local Government (DILG) further underscored the strong support for this program.

The backing from both the DICT Central Office and Bulacan’s provincial leadership highlights the initiative’s importance not just for the province but for the entire country. The eLGU initiative is aligned with President Marcos’s call to modernize government systems and ensure effective implementation at the local level. As part of the President’s Bagong Pilipinas Movement, this program aims to elevate the Philippines’ public service framework to global standards.

Bulacan’s forward-thinking approach to digital governance sets an inspiring example for other provinces to follow. The introduction of the eGOV App and the eLGU system is expected to revolutionize public services, making them more accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of citizens. As the province embraces this technological advancement, residents can anticipate enhanced interactions with their government, leading to an improved quality of life.

By championing digital governance, Bulacan not only positions itself as a leader in public service innovation but also establishes a model for local governments eager to utilize technology for community benefit. The future looks bright as Bulacan embarks on this exciting journey towards a more connected and responsive government, paving the way for a new era in public service delivery.
