Bataan barangay officials join mass oath-taking ceremony

BALANGA CITY — Barangay officials in Bataan elected in the Oct. 30 barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections took their oath of office in mass oath-taking ceremony held at the spacious Bataan People’s Center here Sunday, Nov. 19.

Taking the oath to start their three-year term were 237 barangay chairmen and 1,659 barangay kagawad at seven kagawad per barangay or a total of 1,896 village officials.

The barangay officials took their oath before Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia 3rd.

Winning SK chairmen and SK kagawad in 237 barangays in 11 towns and one city were earlier sworn-in by their respective mayors after undertaking mandatory training.

Bataan has four congressional districts with the towns of Hermosa, Orani, Samal and Abucay under the 1st District; Balanga City, Pilar, Orion and Limay comprising the 2nd District; and Dinalupihan, Mariveles, Bagac and Morong under the 3rd District.

The oath-taking was witnessed by Vice-Gov. Cris Garcia, 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman, 2nd District Rep. Albert Garcia, 3rd District Rep. Maria Angela Garcia, and Partylist Pusong Pinoy Rep. Jett Nisay.

Mayors Francis Garcia of Balanga City, Herman Santos of Dinalupihan, Jopet Inton of Hermosa, Efren Pascual, Jr. of Orani, Alex Acuzar of Samal, Robin Tagle of Abucay, Antonio Raymundo of Orion, also president of the Bataan League of Municipalities, Nelson David of Limay, and Ace Jello Concepcion of Mariveles also stood as witnesses to the oath-taking rites.

Also present were provincial board members Tony Roman and Popoy del Rosario.

The governor, Raymundo and the four solons in their messages congratulated the village officials and reminded them that “public office is a public trust” and provide the best service to their constituents.
