CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a two-storey multipurpose facility at barangay Imelda Poblacion in Jaen, Nueva Ecija.

The P4.9-million infrastructure will serve as an annex to the existing barangay hall.

DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said the facility enables local officials to effectively serve its nearly 1,200 constituents.

“I believe that the new multipurpose building will enhance access to basic services as local officials now have additional office spaces to fulfill their duties and responsibilities,” Trinidad emphasized.

Meanwhile, Assistant District Engineer Robert Jay Panaligan explained that the new annex building was designed with Lumang Gapan’s architecture.

It offers officials the flexibility to utilize the rooms for various purposes, including serving as the session hall of the Sangguniang Barangay.

“Enhanced services for residents, including faster response times to requests and the creation of effective programs and projects, may result from providing barangay officials with the additional workspace they need,” Panaligan added.

DPWH is in the process of arranging the turnover of the annex building to the local government.

Once finalized, the new facility can be used in the delivery of government services to the community.

The structure integrated features for accessibility like a ramp for persons with disabilities.

It was also furnished with necessary amenities such as toilets, outdoor faucets, plumbing, and lighting fixtures. (CLJD-PIA 3)
