BALER, Aurora (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a P29.4-million flood control project along the Pacugao River at barangay Kadayacan in Maria Aurora, Aurora.
The 264.76-lineal meter structure would enhance the resilience of communities to flooding by complementing the existing river walls.
DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal highlighted the construction of concrete slope protection on a foundation of steel sheet piles and the incorporation of a reinforced concrete box culvert.
“These measures effectively increase the river’s capacity to mitigate recurring floods,” he furthered.
The project was funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act.
Construction of the infrastructure commenced last March and reached completion in August. (CLJD-PIA 3)
