ORION, Bataan: Flash flood of three to four feet deep hit portions of the Roman Superhighway in Barangays Sta. Elena and Puting Buhangin in Orion, Bataan Monday morning.
Vladimir Moreno, Orion municipal disaster risk reduction management office head, said they rushed to the area and monitored the situation. He said that flood waters subsided in less than two hours when intermittent rains stopped.
Before 11:00 in the morning, there was no more flood and only an overflowing creek by the roadside was left.
At the height of the flood, traffic stalled as light vehicles could not pass. The Orion MDRRMO immediately posted an advisory that the area was closed to light vehicles and only trucks and buses could pass.
The Roman Superhighway is a busy passage for big oil and liquefied petroleum gas tankers and heavy trucks loaded with raw materials and finished products from the Freeport Area of Bataan in Mariveles and factories in Limay. (30)
