HERMOSA, Bataan: Ten to 11 barangays here still remained flooded on Sunday, July 30, although the weather was getting fine with the sun trying to outshine the slight drizzles.
Bancas still remain the only means of transportation from Barangay Daungan to Barangay Almacen and back.
Allan Puno of Almacen said the flood subsided a little compared the past days when flood waters were more than six feet deep. “Upos tao noong isang araw pero ngayon hanggang beywang na. Bale tatlo o apat na araw na yata ang baha kung hindi ako nagkakamali.”
Glenly Monje, Hermosa municipal disaster risk reduction management office chief, said flood waters subsided little by little but 10 to 11 barangays remained flooded with waters up to three feet high.
Included, he said, are barangays Almacen, Daungan, Pulo, Saba, A. rivera, Mabiga, Balsik and three or four others out of the 23 total villages in Hermosa. The deepest floods are still in Almacen.
Still in evacuation centers are 34 families of 156 individuals from barangays Mabiga and Bacong where relief assistance were provided by the Hermosa local government under Mayor Jopet Inton.
Contributing to the flooding, Monje said, were damaged dikes in Romulo Bridge and barangays Pulo and Saba that residents and rescue workers were sandbagging.
The Sangguniang Bayan has passed a resolution, approved by Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia 3rd, placing Bataan under a state of calamity beginning Saturday, July 29. (30)
