ANGELES CITY – Seventeen year-old Mary Ann Felker of Barangay Pulungbulu was crowned as the new Reyna ning Las Flores during the cultural event held May 19 at the Plaza Angel.

Felker outdid eleven (11) stunning ladies from various participating villages in the city.

The event is spearheaded by the Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO) and is in line with the city’s month-long celebration of the National Heritage Month.

ACTO Head John Montances said that “the event intends to raise awareness and impart appreciation amongst Angelenos on the city’s cultural customs by means of developing and preserving cultural events while using public spaces for artistic and creative expression”.

All 12 lasses paraded downtown Angeles in their floral-inspired cultural Filipiniana terno designed by the city’s renowned couturiers.

The event also highlighted a symbolic offering of flower garlands to the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary as a form of paying homage.

Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan extended his congratulations to the delegates and even to the designers who participated in the said cultural event marking it as “an opportunity to safeguard the city’s tradition while promoting Angeleña beauty and the artistry of its people”.

Meanwhile, other contingents who bagged special awards include: Flores ning Amsic Nicole Chloe M. Creek for Best in Garland Arrangement, Flores ning Sto.
