ANGELES CITY — As part of the city government’s celebration of Nutrition Month, Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr., wants to hold a series of competitions for Day Care students on July 26, 2023.

Thirty Day Care students will take part in a poster-making contest, a cooking contest and the title for the healthiest child.

Winners in all categories will bring home P10,000 in cash prize, while the first and second runner-ups will receive P7,000 and 5,000, respectively. Non-winners will get P2,000 in consolation prize.

According to Mayor Lazatin, this kind of competition will inspire the kids to enhance their skills in arts, teach them to help their parents in household chores, and instill proper hygiene.

“Ang day care po ay malaking bagay sa paglaki ng bata at sa gagawin nitong transisyon sa isang elementary school, nagsisilbi pong pundasyon ang day care sa mga bata na papasok sa elementarya,” Lazatin said.

For the poster making contest, the criteria for judging is as follows: 40% for the Relevance to the Theme; 30% for Visual Impact; and 30% for Neatness.

While the criteria for the healthiest kid are 25% for Smartness; 25% for Nutrition Status and Health Record; 25% for Physical Appearance; and 25% for Clean and Healthy Teeth.

The judging criteria for the cooking competition are 10% for Preparation; 20% for Economical; 20% for Taste; 30% for Nutritional Value; 10% for Presentation; and 10% for Originality.

Meanwhile, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Edna Duaso expressed her utmost gratitude to Mayor Lazatin Jr. for his never-ending support to this program for the day care students.

To recall, the city government, led by Mayor Lazatin, distributed school supplies and school furniture to 2,213 day care students in the city.

Lazatin continues to provide programs to uplift the quality of education and well-being of day care students.
