SAMAL, Bataan — The local government unit on Tuesday announced that the Department of Labor and Employment granted P500,000 for livelihood assistance to persons with disabilities here.
Samal administrator Jay Sammy Lat who represented the LGU in receiving the financial assistance said that Mayor Alex Acuzar was very grateful for the concern of the labor department to those with disabilities.
“Ang layunin ni Mayor Acuzar ay ang pag-angat at pag-asenso ng aming mga kababayan kabilang na ang mga may kapansanan kaya ipinagpapasalamat niya ang tulong na ito ng DOLE,” the municipal administrator said.
Lat said that the cash assistance will be divided among the organizations in 14 barangays of the Samal Federation of Persons with Disabilities. “Magtatayo sila ng bigasan sa bawat barangay para sa kanilang livelihood project nang magkaroon sila ng dagdag na kabuhayan.”
Federation president Mario Balingit thanked Acuzar and DOLE-Region 3 director Geraldine Panlilio and provincial chief Lelilani Reynoso for the help extended to them. “Ang rice retailing business na aming papasukin ay malaking tulong sa kabuhayan ng aming mga kasapi.”
Also present in the financial assistance handout were Public Employment Service Office-Bataan manager Maria Eva Basalo and PESO Samal chief Portia Tuazon.
