GAPAN CITY — A former member of the Nueva Ecija provincial board was killed in a gun attack by two unidentified men in Barangay San Nicolas here at about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
The victim was identified as Zaldy Matias, 65, a resident of the said village who served as member of the sangguniang panlalawigan representing Nueva Ecija’s 4th District from 2007 to 2010.
Records showed the victim was also a city councilor from 1998 to 2007.
Investigation disclosed Matias was seated in front of his house when the assassins arrived and without a word shot him repeatedly.
The victim was rushed to a hospital here but died, police said.
Police said probers collate CCTV footages and interview witnesses in an effort to identity of the suspects. The motive has yet to be established.
