OLONGAPO CITY – At least two inmates, reportedly members of the Sputnik Gang, were wounded in a clash against jail guards at the Olongapo City District Jail here, Wednesday morning.

Wounded were identified as Joel Avilda and Lito Mendoza. They are now being treated at James Gordon Memorial hospital due to multiple injuries in different parts of their body.

Report said the two Sputnik members refused the transferring of their leader, Boyet Lagonero to the Dinalupihan Jail in Bataan. Lagonero was arrested for alleged drug pushing,

A separate report revealed that Lagonero had a quarrel against one of the jail officers. This prompted jail officials the transfer of Lagonero to the Dinalupihan District Jail.

Jail authorities said Lagonero’s transfer was legitimate and has court order.

The management of the Olongapo District Jail suspended visitation to inmates while talks with jail guards and prisoners are still going on as of press time.
