PNP Maritime Office gets 2 bancas

    SUBIC BAY FREEPORT—The 3rd PNP Regional Maritime Office (3rd RMO) had procured two motorized bancas following the blessing ceremony held at Bravo Pier, SRF Compound, here Wednesday afternoon.

    Director Romeo Hilomen, PNP director for comptrollership; Chief Supt. Villamor Bumanlag, director Maritime Group and Senior Supt. Thomas Abellar, acting chief of Regional Maritime Office lll attended the blessing.

    In his message, Hilomen said by December 2009 his office would have already procured P135-million worth of police patrol fast boats and P80-million worth of inflatable boats.

    “By next year the Maritime Group will be fully equipped that include armaments like caliber 50 and caliber 7462 machineguns for their fast boats” Hilomen said.

    The capability enhancement of the PNP Maritime Group is part of the PNP Transformation Program of Chief PNP Jesus Versoza wherein the equipment of the police forces will be upgraded including their human resources.

    According to Bumanlag, most of the cases filed by their office are dismissed because they could not establish where the crime happen.

    The police should undergo training in order to meet the demands of modern time and everybody should learn modern techniques of investigation to attain 100 percent success in prosecuting the cases, Bumanlag said.

    In the same event, eight members of the PNP Maritime were given Commendation Medal (Medalya ng Papuri) for having demonstrated exemplary devotion and loyalty to duty as personnel of RMO-3 during the conduct of search and rescue operations on June 25, 2009 at the vicinity of Capones Island, Barangay Pundakit, San Antonio, Zambales that resulted in the rescue of five fishermen and the recovery of one body.

    The maritime stations in Zambales and Bataan were also given computer sets to be used in their investigation works.
