Police score in anti-drug campaign

    OLONGAPO CITY – Two big-time drug peddlers were arrested by joint elements of the Zambales Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (ZCIDT) and Olongapo City PNP in coordination with PDEA lll, in a drug-bust operation in Barangay Kalaklan here at dawn Thursday, police said.

    The suspects were identified as Ranken Valles, alias Ken, 36, tricycle driver, resident of No. 47 Ohio St., Barangay Kalaklan, and Rannie Guevarra, 40, of Sitio Tahimik, Barangay Calapacuan, Subic, Zambales.

    Reports said that at about 12:15 a.m. the police team led by ZCIDT Provincial Officer, Chief Inspector Rogelio Peñones, Jr., and Chief Inspector Julius Caesar Domingo of the City Intelligence Unit nabbed the suspects in the act of selling marijuana to a poseur buyer.

    Recovered from the suspects’ possession were two bricks of dried marijuana weighing two kilos, seven plastic packs of dried marijuana weighing 0.5 kilos and assorted drug paraphernalia.

    The suspects were detained at the ZCIDT detention cell facing charges for violation of Section 5, Article ll of RA 9165.

    Last week, police nabbed live-in partners Joanne Caneta, 21 and Crisanto Carreon, 43, of Purok 3-C, Sitio Tahimik, Barangay Calapacuan, Subic, Zambales in a buy-bust operation and recovered from their possession 13 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P39,000.
