CLARK AIR BASE, Pampanga (PIA) — The newly delivered C-295 Medium Lift Aircraft will greatly enhance the public service value of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) by providing better airlift capabilities.
PAF Commanding General Lieutenant General Stephen Parreño said the Arrival, Turn-over, and Blessing of the air asset is not only a symbolic gesture but also a fulfillment of a promise made by the national government and partners from Airbus Defence and Space in Spain and Merpati Maintenance Facility in Indonesia.
The service branch acquired three C-295 aircrafts since 2022, augmenting the four units that were earlier procured in 2015 and 2019.
Parreño assured that the air assets are in sound condition with defense partners affirming their safety.
“Our personnel can be assured of the aircrafts improved safety, performance, maintenance, and efficiency. We are truly grateful for the commitment of our government to supporting its troops and the dedication of Airbus and Spain to deliver their obligations,” he shared.
C-295 is a twin-turboprop that is the newest generation of tactical airlifter or in the light and medium segment.
It is combat-proven with high versatility as it operates under all weather conditions in all types of environments.
The aircraft will complement the capability of PAF and AFP to provide much needed airlift support during disasters and calamities. It will also supplement maritime patrols. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
