BALER, Aurora (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) built a new bridge that connects far-flung communities in Maria Aurora, Aurora.

The P173.7-million, two-lane infrastructure now provides better connectivity between barangays Kadayacan and Bayanihan.

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said the project, implemented by Aurora District Engineering Office, involved the construction of a 150-lineal meter bridge with 240-meter approach roads on both sides to give motorists a smooth transition between the bridge decks and the roadway pavement.

“A flood control structure with a total length of 1,083 lineal meters was also included to safeguard the integrity of the bridge against geohazards,” he added.

“With a more durable bridge that can accommodate all types of vehicles, Maria Aurora’s economy is seen to experience a boost through enhanced transportation of goods and people,” the cabinet official emphasized.

The opening of the new bridge replaced the decades-old, temporary, single-lane Kadayacan Bridge that was only passable to light vehicles for safety reasons.

Prior to its completion, heavy vehicles had to make a detour through barangay Dimanpudso just to get to Kadayacan and Bayanihan. (CLJD-PIA 3)
