PILAR, Bataan — A man was shot dead inside a cockpit arena in Barangay Alauli here at the height of cockfighting activities on Saturday afternoon.
Bataan police director Col. Romell Velasco identified the fatality as Nards Morales, 52, of Barangay Cupang Proper in Balanga City who, preliminary investigation showed, sustained bullet wound on the head.
Found in the crime scene were two empty bullet shells of still unidentified caliber.
Initial investigation, Velasco said, disclosed that at around 4:15 in the afternoon while a cockfight was ongoing, a gunshot was heard at the left wing of the arena under the staircase where the victim’s body was found sprawled.
Further investigation and interview with witnesses led to the identification of the suspect who managed to escape from the crime scene. Velasco said manhunt for the suspect continued. Motive for the killing was still unknown.
The Bataan police forensic unit was called to process the crime scene.
