CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a flood control structure along Digmala River in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija.

It seeks to protect residential areas and farmlands from threats of inundation.

DPWH Regional Director Roseller Tolentino said the infrastructure located in barangay Ariendo has a total length of 719.2 lineal meters.

“It now serves as the first line of defense against overflowing of river bank for the nearly 2,000 residents in barangay Ariendo, which is one of Bongabon’s thriving onion production areas,” Tolentino added.

Through the completed structure, local farmers are expected to see a boost in their agricultural productivity.

The construction was implemented by Nueva Ecija Second District Engineering Office in the amount of P82 million sourced from the General Appropriations Act of 2022. (CLJD-PIA 3)
