Korean bizman kidnapped by compatriots in AC rescued

    ANGELES CITY- A Korean businessman was allegedly kidnapped for ransom by his compatriots here last Friday but was soon rescued in Manila by agents of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNPAKG).

    A report of the PNP-AKG identified the Korean as Lee Jung Dae, who owns a restaurant here.

    The victim later identified to probers his kidnappers as compatriots Cha Jae Young, Cha Dae Sun and Kim Min Kwan and a Filipino cohort named Raymond Flores.

    Lee said the suspects forcibly took him from his residence in Barangay Balibago here last Friday and driven to Manila. The suspects then called up Lee’s relatives to demand a ransom of P1.2 million.

    The police said Lee’s girlfriend, who was not immediately identified, delivered the ransom to the suspects at the Marquee Mall here, near the North Luzon Expressway, but Lee was not released.

    The suspects later demanded another P1.2 million.

    By this time, the PNP-AKG was already alerted about the case.

    Its operatives trailed the suspects from the mall to Manila, where they arrested them at the parking lot of the Bureau of Immigration where the victim was found in a van being guarded by two of the suspects.

    Charges of kidnapping for ransom were filed against the suspects in this city.
