BALANGA CITY — The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan on Tuesday announced two important missions it accomplished, one outbound and the other inbound, for the month of November this year.
In the year-end Kapihan with the Media, AFAB administrator Engr. Emmanuel Pineda discussed their mission to Seoul, South Korea and hosting of a business tour in the province of 11 Filipino–Chinese Chambers of Commerce.
Pineda and AFAB deputy administrator for operations Alewijin Aidan Ong introduced investment opportunities in the Freeport Area of Bataan in Mariveles to the Korean business community.
Pineda said the outbound business trade mission to Korea was in line with AFAB’s continuous quest to entice foreign investors.
He said that the mission hoped to build new investment opportunities for the growth of several industries of strength in the Bataan freeport area, particularly in agribusiness, infrastructure, tourism, social enterprise and renewable energy.
AFAB, together with Bataan Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia III and delegates of Bataan public-private partnership and investment center and the Central Luzon Growth Corridor Foundation, Inc., participated in the trade mission to conduct various trade and investment promotion activities.
Pineda noted that they successfully conducted one-on-one meetings with prospective partners during the business forum with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He said that they visited the Incheon Free Economic Zone, Songdo Smart City and POSCO Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. in order to benchmark their best practices as a smart and green city for possible replication in Central Luzon.
Pineda said their group also viewed Daedong Corp.’s presentation on modern agri machineries and utility vehicles, electric bike and Smart farms.
They also visited the Global Knowledge Exchange and Development Center and learned how Korea developed its economy, its industries and its history. They also headed to Lotte Mart, Seoul station to see Korean products and understand their market preferences.
The group also went to KATECH, Daechang Motors and learned about the programs of Korea in developing their automotive industry.
The second AFAB mission was also aimed at attracting foreign investments in FAB in partnership with the provincial government of Bataan and the Philippine–China Economic Cooperative Industrial Park.
This was the successful hosting of the business tour of 11 Filipino–Chinese Chambers of Commerce in the Mariveles freeport, Pineda said.
He said that AFAB corporate affairs technical officer Paul Robert Salapantan and marketing chief Kelvin Rodriguez through various attractive propositions proudly presented FAB as a great investment location.
Salapantan, the administrator said, emphasized how RA 11453 bolsters the FAB authority and functions, explaining that AFAB is now empowered to register and provide appropriate incentives to new technologies and allows for the declaration of FAB expansion areas anywhere in Bataan.
AFAB director lawyer Aurelio Angeles, Jr. narrated the strong ties between AFAB and the province’s policy makers.
AFAB deputy administrator for support services Ma. Lourdes Herrera expressed the hope that the activity will result to lasting partnership with the visitors.
The businessmen also visited the FACP Mfg., Corp., Seafront Shipyard & Port Terminal, Bataan Harbor City in Pilar, and 1Bataan command center in Orani.
