SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga- Traffic towards and from San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan is expected to be heavy starting June 16 amid plans to close parts of a major road to give way to the construction of foundation for posts for the Metro Rail Transit 7 (MRT 7).

Parts of the Regalado road would be closed to traffic for the project, the regional office of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) here said.

The DOTr has issued a traffic advisory urging motorists from San Jose del Monte going to Commonwealth Avenue to take the Quirino highway or enter Belfast street towards Mindanao avenue towards Commonwealth.

Those going to San Jose del Monte from the area of the Quezon Memorial Circle have been advised to take Mindanao avenue or Bristol and Ascension streets, the advisory said.

After delays, the construction of the MRT 7 started on Dec. 8 last year. It will be 23 kilometers long and cover 14 stations.

DOTr said the stretch will extend from SM North EDSA where the LRT-MR Unified Central Terminal would be located.

From this terminal, MRT 7 would negotiate North Avenue at the corner of EDSA, turning towards the Quezon Memorial Circle towards Commonwealth avenue. There would be stations at one side of the circle, at Philcoa, University Avenue, Tandang Sora, Don Antonio, the Batasan, Manggahan, Dona Carmen, Regalado highway, Mindanao avenue, Quirino avenue, the Sacred Heart area, at Tala in North Caloocan, and at Tungkong Mangga in San Jose del Monte, the DOTr said.
