No doubt about our times

SOME expect that the Apocalypse of our times would happen in one fell swoop. But supernatural messages from visionaries seem to indicate otherwise, although there are events in the entire apocalyptic span that would be more sensational than others.

In Brazil, the Blessed Mother said the time of travail would yet take a long time. Within this time, the events prophesied in Garabandal in the 1960’s, repeated in other apparitions such as Medjugorje, would happen, namely, the Warning, the Miracle and, conditionally to some extent, the Chastisement.

If we listen to news, better still view YouTube news videos with such titles as End Times, or Signs of the End, we will realize that the prophecies have already been unfolding in the recent years. And the pace is gathering more and more momentum.

The recent messages from Heaven also indicate that what mankind faces is definitely not the end of the world, but the ushering in of a new era that will wipe away the godlessness of our times. This has been explicit in many Marian apparitions.

I have become quite wary of some modernday “prophets” who are fond of giving specifi c dates for Apocalyptic events. They turn out to be charlatans. At most, in credible supernatural interventions on earth, we are given mere hints through holy people.

Take, for example, what St. John Paul II once said, thus:

“We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. I do not think the wide circle of the American Society, or the wide circle of the Christian Community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the antichurch, between the Gospel and the antigospel, between Christ and the antichrist. This confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God’s Plan, and it must be a trial which the Church must take up, and face courageously.”

John Paul II said this when he was still Cardinal Karol Wojtyla of Krakow, at the Eucharistic Congress, Philadelphia, Pa. on August 3, 1976.

We are not short of modern Popes who have confirmed the extraordinary air of our times. Pope Paul VI said during his papacy that “the smoke of Satan” had already penetrated the Church. The statement was in the tone of later messages to be conveyed by the Blessed Mother in her apparitions in various continents of the world.

But only a few listen. Fewer still are those who make a turnaround in their daily lives. This is probably the reason why the Apocalypse of our times is not a one-fell-swoop event. Divine Mercy is giving all enough time to change course.
