BALANGA CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) eyes completion of the rehabilitation of a revetment wall at Paniquian River in Mariveles, Bataan before end of 2022.
Bataan 2nd District Engineering Office is expediting repair of the 178-linear meter infrastructure along the barangay Maligaya section.
District Engineer Ulysses Llado said communities near the Paniquian River are vulnerable to flooding and the existing concrete slope protection structures were damaged by previous typhoons.
“This prompted DPWH to allocate funds for its rehabilitation,” he added.
Now on its second phase, the P5-million project is expected to prevent riverbank erosion and provide protection to residents against flooding.
It was funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act. (CLJD-PIA 3)
