TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two groups in Tarlac for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) development.

The partners are Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Tarlac Chapter and Tarlac Henyo Entrepreneurs Marketing (THEM) Cooperative.

DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo disclosed that under the MOU, PICPA committed to buy local products from One Town One Product (OTOP) Philippines Hub Tarlac and promote them to members and stakeholders.

They will also advise THEM cooperative, the OTOP hub operator, on accounting practices to develop their businesses as part of PICPA’s corporate social responsibility.

“This support of PICPA-Tarlac creates an opportunity for the local MSMEs to widen their market reach,” Balilo said.

For its part, THEM Cooperative will provide PICPA Tarlac Chapter best OTOP product offerings, a maximum of five percent discount and incentives for its members upon presentation of a valid PICPA Tarlac Chapter ID, and assistance in promoting their advocacies.

DTI Tarlac shall administer marketing and promotional assistance, market matching and information, among others, subject to availability of funds and resources and in accordance with existing government rules and regulations.
