ANGELES CITY – In a three-day round of 12 public schools here, Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. managed to personally deliver free shoes, T-shirts, and bags with school supplies for 17,152 students.
This, in line with an inauguration promise of Lazatin to provide quality and accessible education, with his mantra: “No Angeleño youth will be left behind in terms of education.”
From Sept. 5 to 7, the recipient schools and their corresponding number of beneficiaries were: Alberto G. Pabalan Elementary School, with 222 students; Teodoro P. Tinio ES – 1,157; Sapalibutad ES – 1,376; Sitio Pader ES – 670; Enrica Sandico ES – 598; Pulung Cacutud ES – 627; Cutud ES – 790; Bonifacio V. Romero High School – 1,330; Bonifacio V. Romero Senior HS – 569; EPZA Resettlement ES – 2,326; and Northville 15 Integrated School – 4,629; and Gov. Rafael L. Lazatin IS —2,878.
The distribution of items to the remaining public schools and day care centers will follow suit. A total of 100,000 sets of the free items are allotted to the city’s 53 public schools and 76 daycare centers.
Alternately joining Lazatin in delivering the school items were Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, and councilors Atty. Arvin Suller, JC Aguas, Marino Bañola, Dan Lacson, and Raco Del Rosario.
With the supervision of Lazatin’s chief adviser IC Calaguas and executive assistant IV Reina Manuel, members of the gender and development office, city nutrition office, Angeles City Emergency Command Center, general services office, and city engineer’s office assisted the mayor in the set distribution.
