In a recent press conference here, Poe admitted being tempted to pursue a DNA test to once and for all settle the issue of her being allegedly the daughter of the late dictator Pres. Marcos.
“Minsan dumaplis sa isip ko ba’t di natin gawin,” she said, referring to a DNA test involving her colleague in the Senate. “Pero ayaw ko nang manggambala ng mga tao (But I don’t want to be of bother to other people),” she added.
Only recently, a document allegedly from a forensic scientist claimed that a DNA test on Bongbong indicated he and Poe were related. The document, however, was spurious.
Thanking Bongbong for his tolerance of the issue, Poe nevertheless dismissed the rumors as being without any basis.
Rumors have it that Poe was the late president’s daughter by her aunt, movie star Rosemarie Sonora, younger sister of her adoptive mother Susan Roces.
But Poe said that her aunt had never been pregnant before at anytime before she was born. She noted that at the time of her birth, her aunt had been busy at work with Sampaguita Pictures, then a top producer of Tagalog movies.
“It’s all urban legend,” she stressed.
This, even as Poe dismissed anew the allegations of her critics that she would be merely a factotum of her vice presidential running mate Sen. Francis Escudero should they both win in the May elections.
“Chiz has done much but in the end, it will always be my decision,” she said.
