CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Central Luzon police director Chief Supt. Rudy Lacadin has ordered a probe on the alleged mauling of a Tarlac newspaper editor by a policeman based in Gerona, Tarlac.

Nelson Bolos, editor of the newsweekly Tarlac News Center, accused PO1 Rogelio Almazan of physically assaulting him recently in Gerona.

Almazan allegedly suddenly thrust the pointed thumb of his clenched fist into Bolos stomach while cursing the latter.

“He (Almazan) repeatedly hit my abdomen with hisclenched finger and badmouthed me,” said Bolos.

Bolos said his tiff with Almazan started a few years ago when he, Bolos, tried to help a businessman get back two licensed pistols Almazan took way back in 2011. He said one of the pistols had apparently already been sold by Almazan.

In his text message to Bolos, Lacadin said he would not tolerate abuses from his cops anywhere in Central Luzon and that if found, guilty, he would push for the filing of administrative charges against Almazan.

Bolos said, however, that he has also filed a criminal case against Almazan.

“I filed a case of slander by deeds against PO1 Rogelio Almazan before the Tarlac prosecutor’s office. In my 15 years of media practice, only Almazan has assaulted me in broad daylight”, he noted.
