CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a slope protection project in Floridablanca, Pampanga.
Located along the Cabangcalan Section of the Gumain River, it was implemented by Pampanga 2nd District Engineering Office.
District Engineer Gregorio Audea Jr. said the newly constructed 110-lineal meter structure is now connected to the existing river walls along the said waterway to better protect those living in the nearby areas.
“DPWH uses a structural approach to flood management to protect people and property, control flood hazards, and reduce the likelihood of flood events in high-risk areas,” he explained.
It also helps reduce the frequency of flooding in the area which in turn encourages the growth of businesses located in the adjacent San Pedro Eco Park.
The 19.5 million infrastructure was funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act.
