SAMAL, Bataan – The municipal police station here on Friday launched a program
empowering each of the 14 barangays to address the problem of child abuse.
Major Jimmy Albert Decin, Samal police chief, said the program is known as
Barangay Empowerment on Child Abuse Resistance and Elimination – Fight
Unwanted Lewd Design (BE CAREFUL).

“It aims to stop and prevent sexual violence from happening through massive
information campaign by addressing all factors in all levels,” Decin said.
Lt. Ariel Eufemio, Samal deputy police chief, presided over the launching at the
Samal North Elementary School in Barangay San Juan.

Decin reported to Bataan police director Col. Romell Velasco that participants in
the project were Samal Vice Mayor Ronnie Ortiguerra, barangay chairmen,
municipal social workers, and members of the barangay council for the protection
of children/violence against women.

Also in attendance were members of tricycle operators and drivers’ associations,
force multipliers, and stakeholders.
